MOTHER’S DAY – LA FÊTE DES MÈRES
Tomorrow is Monday, the 27th of March 2017 and is D-day for a lot of students, who will be facing their French Oral Exam. You may or may not be asked about Mother’s day, but it is no harm to have something to say on the subject, if it does come up!
Below is a very simple sample answer that can be used for your French Oral Exam!
Aujourd’hui c’est la fête des mères. Demain ce sera l’épreuve d’orale pour beaucoup d’entre vous!

What did you do for Mother’s day?
- Je crois {quoah) que c’est très important de fêter {fet-tay} nos mères. Elles sont toujours là pour nous écouter, nous aider, nous encourager. {on-coor-ra-jay} C’est elles qui font tout pour nous. Pour célébrer la fête de mères, j’ai offert un bouquet de fleurs, {an boo-kay de flur} une carte et une bouteille de parfum {boo-tay de par-fahn} à ma mère. Elle est restée au lit {oh lee} pendant que je preparais son petit déjeuner {pet-tee dej-jun-ay} avec mon père. Ensuite {on-sweet} j’ai donné un coup de main avec le rangement, {ronge-mon} et j’étais gentil avec elle toute la journée.
I think that it is very important to celebrate our mothers. They are always there to listen to us, to help and to encourage us. It is they that do everything for us. To celebrate Mother’s Day, I gave my mother a bunch of flowers, a card and a bottle of perfume. She stayed in bed while I prepared her breakfast with my father. After that I helped with the tidying and I was nice to her all day.
